Our Reading Spine
The Reading Spine is a core collection of texts that children will read each year. This has been selected so that children enjoy a rich and varied diet of literature, meet well-known authors, and are exposed to a wide range of vocabulary. Children may study elements of these stories during whole-class and shared reading opportunities, in guided group settings and also during independent reading. They may also feature in English lessons, when classes can study them in greater depth.

Reading Challenges
Here are our recommended Year 5 and 6 reading lists, which gives an overview of suitable titles for children in the final year of Key Stage 2. Reading these titles will help to provide children with experience of a range of text-types and a wide vocabulary. The titles highlighted titles on the list will be studied as part of our English curriculum this year.
